Making your CD or DVD with CDPDX

1. Record your  CD or DVD

SuperDigital’s Pro Audio Store can sell you the recording gizmos you need to do it yourself. Or we can assist you by tracking drums or mixing your album in our ProTools studios.
DO NOT submit a project that is not identical to the format you are expecting your discs to be returned as!!
In other words do not send us .wav files!!! If its an Audio CD send your master CD files as 16 bit/44.1 .aif. Not as wav, mp3, or AAC UNLESS you want your duplicates made as such!

2. Deal with copyright & licensing

You must own or control the content. If you’re performing your own music, & are using zero samples of someone else’s music. you do not need to get a license from anyone! However, you need to submit an IPR Form with your finished master for our plant so they don’t get sued by the RIAA, & indicate on it that you own the content. Download our CDPDX Order Form which contains this stuff.

3. Register with the Feds

Download Form CO here.
Consider protecting your own songs by registering with ASCAP (ascap.com), or BMI (bmi.com). When you record someone else’s song, obtain a mechanical license from the original writer(s) & publisher of the song. Contact the Harry Fox Agency (212) 370-5330 (www.nmpa.org), or contact the song’s publisher directly. Submit a copy of your mechanical license, or proof that you have applied for it for any cover songs, with your CD or DVD master. If you use someone else’s performance, software or samples on your CD, even if your CD is not for sale, you need to get a master use license from the original artist or the artist’s label, or by contacting the owner of the software for a CD-ROM, enhanced CD, or DVD. Provide a copy of your master use license, or proof that you have applied for the master use license, with your finished CD or DVD master. If you have images in your CD or DVD artwork that are owned by someone else, obtain rights to reproduce these materials prior to manufacturing in order to protect yourself from copyright violation.

4. Start thinking about your cover design.

Gather up artwork, photos, logos , lyrics, credits, thank you’s etc., Consider handing this off to a professional graphic designer- its worth the investment! Read the Printing Requirements when you’re ready to submit the artwork for printing. Digital graphics files can be submitted on CD or uploaded to our dropbox below.

5. See us for professional Music Mastering.

6. We Manufacture your CD or DVD

We coordinate all phases of manufacturing – printing the inserts, duplicating the CD’s or DVD’s, & packaging the finished product.

Delivery Dates Although delivery dates have to be approximate by nature, we’ll bend over backwards whenever we can. Just remember everybody else thinks they are just as important. Please, please, don’t schedule a CD release party till you have product in your hands. Murphy’s law lives. Any number of steps in the process can create unexpected delays. We just want to be honest about this after 20 years of making albums. It’s best not to be tied to date.
Email is not 100% reliable. It could cause delays in your of proofing your printed materials. You can call us anytime to speak with real human 10-5 Mon-Fri. 503-228-2222.
Color Matching All printed inserts are “gang-run”. This allows us to offer printing at the lowest cost to you, but also means that exact CMYK color matching for any one job is not possible.
Bar Code (UPC) For store sales, you must have a UPC (Universal Product Code) included in the packaging . We include this free in the packages that specify this. We will generate one for your artwork.
